Ever wonder where a blogger goes when their blog site goes silent? What has distracted them to the point they are no longer posting?

In my case, my blog fell silent for several months because of a tragic automobile accident with my middle child, Daniel. January of this year, I witnessed a drunk driver strike my 13 year old, nearly killing him. The drunk driver was running from California Highway Patrol in a residential neighborhood and traveling 77 miles per hour at impact. Daniel spent a little under a month in ICU and I spent days and nights by his hospital bed. In the first few nights of his hospital stay, we didn’t know if he would make it. Once we knew he would survive, we were then faced with not knowing whether Daniel would be able to walk again. Needless to say, I was not inspired to write a check or even a Facebook post, let alone a blog post, as I was traumatized and emotionally spent.

Through the highs and lows of first thinking I was going to lose my son, to his miraculous recovery, and the turmoil that is continuing to unfold with the legal wrangling, I witnessed so many miracles – daily (more to come on those beautiful miracles!). These miracles reminded me in my darkest hours that God was still there, guiding my every step. Many days I had to lean on God moment to moment, because I had little else to lean on to. God showed his loving ways through loved ones and strangers and I am forever grateful for those angels (and there were so many beautiful angels from my town!) who showed me love when hate could have easily enveloped my heart.

When Daniel was released, I became his nurse and caregiver, a role I was thrown into by circumstance, but one I was grateful to be in. I connected with my son in a way that will forever bind us both, as he had to rely on me for everything.

While I was away, I still tried to stay in writing practice by putting small notes into a journal, spending precious time with and loving on my three kids like I never had before. My family’s life as we knew it had turned completely upside down – which made me reevaluate what was really important in my life.

To all of my followers and readers – I’m sorry I was gone for too long without any explanation. Thank you to those who continued to stop by my blog during this very trying time.

New Year…Now What? Effecting Total Transformation in 2016

Once again a new year is upon us. There’s the proverbial new year’s resolutions. The sincere promises to be better and stronger in the new year.

All the good intentions in the world will not bring one any closer to their new year’s desires, without some inner re-tooling and awareness.

New habits have to replace old ones. New thoughts have to be paved over old, non-serving ones. Patterns have to be reviewed and considered whether they need to come with on the 2016 journey, or be left behind in 2015.

In the creative process, there’s the affirmative thoughts/processes and there’s the action component.

May McCarthy of the awesome book The Path to Wealth (which I highly recommend) says “If people want to effect change, be healed of a disease, or attract something different they must ‘deny’ the condition or disease and follow it with a statement of what they want, called an ‘affirmation.'” She further points out “affirmations and denials are tools to support the change process. Using affirmations alone can bring you a long way on your journey toward your good. But adding denials, or a strong claim that anything that is not for your good is removed, is a powerful way to help eliminate negative beliefs, fears, or any other thoughts that arise and appear to be blocking your path.”

When you affirm what conditions you do want with affirmations, you are stamping the Universal energy. From that stamped desire, inspiration in the form of intuition will guide your next actions steps to take.

Your job is twofold – to affirm the “whats” in your life and to take inspired, action steps when you receive intuition to act. God works out the “hows” of getting your good to you. There’s no need to expend precious energy on how something will come about. If you are following your job tasks, the “how” will reveal itself.

I wish you blessings upon blessings in the new year and beyond. You do not have to believe in new year’s resolutions to effect real change in your life, but there’s no time like a new year to jumpstart your transformation. Remember – focus on the “what” and the “why” you want the “what” and God will tend to the “how.”

Last Minute Shopping Tips for the Last Minute Shopper

Believe it or not, there’s still time to have Christmas presents shipped by Christmas Eve. With the proliferation of online retailers (and their awesome fast, free shipping) and department store extended hours, last minute shopping has never been easier. Even still, a last minute shopper needs to be armed with a plan to get their shopping done without a hitch.

I do most of my shopping online, but also hit up stores like Ross, Target and thrift stores, which still requires some organization. Last minute shoppers tend to overspend, so here are some tips to help stick to a budget and to maintain your sanity:

  • Plan ahead. Even last minute shoppers can benefit from creating and executing a plan. It’s probably even more critical for the last minute shopper to have a plan as time is of the essence.
  • Get 3×5 index cards and label each with one with the person or pet you are purchasing gifts for. List the gifts you want to get each person on their index card and stick to the plan. If you are a spontaneous shopper, leave one space on each card for the on the fly gift. Tally the cost of each gift and note the total at the end of the index card. Do not overextend your time or money by deviating from what’s listed on the index card. I also recommend not feeling compelled to start a second index card – all gifts for one person should fit on the index card easily. I’ve tried this tip this year and it is working beautifully as I can visually see what I need to get and assures me I am sticking to my budget.
  • Buy the online gifts first, as you want to ensure there is enough time for the gifts to get to you by Christmas Eve. Be sure to double check the deliver by date (not to be confused by the ship by date). Check out Amazon and Target for some guaranteed free, timely shipping. Also, if possible, use site to store options if you are right upon Christmas Eve.
  • Plan to go to the stores with your index cards, patience, and good cheer. Eat before you go and make sure you have a plan. Going aimlessly from store to store, rack to rack will surely tire you and there’s the risk of buying more gifts than is necessary or desired.
  • Stick to your plan.

The early bird does not always catch the best deals. Black Friday shoppers may get their shopping done early, but they are not always scoring the best deals. There are still many deals that surpass Black Friday savings. Many of the gifts I wanted to purchase are cheaper now than on the days immediately following Thanksgiving.

I wish you lots of good deals, good cheer and peace this holiday season. Next time someone tries to guilt trip you for waiting until the last minute to shop, simply smile and say, “I got this.”

Is My Visualization Projector Broken?

In a recent conversation with a friend, I asked, “I know you will manifest many things next year, but what are one or two things you deeply desire to manifest in 2016?” She expressed her desire for a good job and a loving relationship. We then started discussing how she could manifest a great job and an even greater love life. I suggested visualization and to act “as if” she already had what she wished to have. She then said her “visualization projector” was broken. “It stopped working a few months ago,” she complained. Whenever she attempted to visualize, nothing appeared in her mind to focus on – she was receiving a blank screen.

She asked if this was normal. I assured her that her visualization projector was not broken, rather, it was waiting for her to switch it back on and feed it with new images.

You can visualize anytime, anywhere. Oftentimes, we fall out of practice, but it is easy to get back on track. You can do the following:

  • Meditate: My seventeen year old son meditates almost everyday and he offered this suggestion to share with my friend on rebooting a visualizing mind. When we meditate, we allow space in our mind, clearing out needless cluttered thoughts, while making room for visions that serve us.
  • Imagine: My four year old inspired me to sit and imagine. She can play with almost anything for hours! Two forks become two people in her imaginative world. I advised my friend to imagine what it would feel like driving to her dream job, or sitting at her new work desk. She could imagine getting her paycheck and feeling a strong sense of satisfaction. She could even link her job image to her love image and envision herself driving home to her new husband. He’s prepared a lovely meal for her and and her son and he’s waiting to hear all about how her day went. Human beings were meant to imagine their whole lives, not just during childhood.
  • Draw or clip pictures: I suggested to my friend she can create a vision board or keep a folder of clipped magazine photos showing what she wants to bring forth into her existence. Whenever she needs to remember what to focus on, she can pull out her board or folder.
  • Journaling: Write, write, and write some more. Your written words on what you wish to manifest has magical power. Your thoughts become things when they are written down. From the written word, a transformation occurs and manifestation into the physical form takes place.

Visualization is a fun and easy way to feel what we want to have, before we actually have it in physical form. A manifesting practitioner knows visualization is a tool worth using on a frequent basis, if they wish to hasten their blessings. Are you visualizing the life of your dreams? If not, what are you waiting for?

While I Was Away…Abundance Abounds

This blog post is dedicated to my generous sister, Jennifer, who lovingly blessed me with sharing her laptop computer. My computer crashed this past summer and it’s thanks to her generosity that I’m able to crank out a blog post today from the comforts of my desk at home. I love you Baby Sis and I thank you for all your love and support.

Hello! I’ve been away from my blogging community for a spell and I’m sorry I left without so much as a “goodbye” or a “see you soon.” I was on hiatus from writing and even checking my personal emails. I only had enough energy and time to care for my two teenagers and preschooler, work my insurance gig, and manage my home. This fall, I squeezed in time to work for the American River Review, a community college literary magazine, which has given me great experience in creating an award winning publication. I attended a much needed women’s spiritual retreat in the great Mendocino County in mid-September. Shortly after the retreat, an ultrasound revealed several uterine fibroid tumors and I had a revelation about the cause of my pulmonary embolism condition (more on that in another blog).

I was not compelled to push through my so-called writer’s block. Instead, I was in a space and season of self-reflection and internalization.

I’ve been attending my beloved church, Center for Spiritual Awareness (CSA) of West Sacramento (http://www.csasacramento.org/church-services.html). Reverend Georgia’s three part “Path to Wealth” series inspired me to get back on my morning inspirational routine:

Here are some podcasts I checked out while I was away:

  • Summer McStravick’s Flowdreaming September 8, 2015: How You REALLY Use Law of Attraction (https://flowdreaming.com/)
  • Summer McStravick’s Flowdreaming October 13, 2015: Creating Strong Healthy Boundaries
  • Summer McStravick’s Flowdreaming October 20, 2015 Create Easy, Smooth Energy Toward Your Goals…and Ditch that Hard Stuff!
  • Lynn Crocker’s Create Your Reality October 26, 2015 Mastering Your Habits  is the Key to Living a Healthier, Happier, and Fulfilling Life (https://createyourrealityradio.wordpress.com/author/lynncrocker/)
  • Janice Campbell’s Receive Your Life October 1, 2015 Faith in Life, Faith in Yourself (http://www.receiveyourlife.com/)

Janice Campbell’s own summertime hiatus from her podcast Receive Your Life gave me permission to take my own break. Just like her, I needed a break to focus inward and to readjust to new opportunities that were coming my way. Now, I can give renewed and invigorated energy to my blog.

The books I’m reading right now tie in nicely to the above mentioned church services and Podcasts:

A Path to Wealth by May McCarthy. CSA’s Reverend Georgia used this book as a basis for her three part series on building wealth (please see above videos). May provides a fun and easy way to strengthen your bond with God and honoring what it is you already have and what’s to come. A definite must (and easy) read. She reminds us we are stewards of God’s gifts and when we turn to our God Source, we receive all that we need to live a truly abundant life.

Giving Thanks: The Art of Tithing by Paula Langguth Ryan. True tithing comes in many forms, not just the paper money we typically think of when we are giving back. Tithe your time, heart, talent, and gifts and you will see an abundance of time, heart, talent and gifts bestowed unto you. Tithing is the spiritual currency we use to give and to receive. This is a gem of a book that takes the mystery out of true tithing.

Thank you readers and fellow bloggers for reading my blog and always being such great sources of support and inspiration for me. I’d love to hear about what you’ve been creating and manifesting in the comment box below and discuss ways we can further support each other in our quest for an abundant life.

As Easy as Manifesting School Buses

Image courtesy of School Bus Stock Photo, by Arvind Balaraman, from http://www.freedigitalphotos.net.

Image courtesy of School Bus Stock Photo, by Arvind Balaraman, from http://www.freedigitalphotos.net.

Children are the greatest manifestors because of their ability to see the world with new, wonder filled imagination. Their thoughts and feelings are raw and unfiltered, not (yet) tainted by doubt and worry from the adults in their lives.

Some children love cars, for others, it’s unicorns. For my four year old daughter, Ella Samone, it’s school buses. She looks forward to the day she will ride on a school bus. She pretends she’s a passenger on a school bus while I drive her to daycare. My vehicle transforms into an imaginative school bus in her imagination. She also has the uncanny ability to manifest several yellow buses rolling by her each day. I kid you not, if Ella Samone wants to see a school bus at 8 PM, she will! People gift her yellow school bus toys. Just a few weeks ago, we drove by a lot full of non-operational school buses, to Ella Samone’s delight. A long, yellow school bus rides alongside our vehicle on Interstate 80 now and then. Even in the summer or times when one doesn’t expect to see a school bus, one appears.

Ella Samone became the passenger in her mind first, she acted as if she was a passenger and soon enough, she will manifest it on the physical plane. She’s already enjoyed the creative thoughts of bringing school buses to her experience. The actual ride will be just the icing on the cupcake for her.

Ella Samone didn’t allow limiting thoughts to drown out the creative thought of seeing school buses every day. She used all her senses to imagine herself in a school bus. Adults can learn from a child’s tenacity surrounding what they draw into their experience.

We can be like the child who sees only the possibilities through vivid visualization. Our thoughts are influential, in their purest state. It is when we pile on the doubts, worries, and resentments from ourselves and others that the influential thought loses its influence. We also do not allow our minds to imagine long enough to shape a new creative thought. How do we become child like in our ability to allow our desires to remain in their unadulterated version, so that they are realized on the physical plane?

  • We have to allow the creative thought to come in and titillate our souls.
  • We have to be in a place of receiving the creative thought.
  • We have to be what it is we wish to be from that creative thought.
  • We have to celebrate both the birth and the manifestation of the creative thought. We do this by living as if it were already here.

Manifesting something as small as seeing school buses everyday is how we practice for manifesting the big castles in our lives. Look to our children for inspiration on how to be in the moment and filled with rich imagination.

Your Problem’s New Street Name is Opportunity!

Image courtesy of Red Ant With Problem by photoexplorer, from http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/

Image courtesy of Red Ant With Problem by photoexplorer, from http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/

Are you saddled with problems? Are you wrapped up in what’s not working, that you’ve neglected to focus on what is working and what opportunities you do have to change your circumstances? Well, a definite must-listen-to-twice Podcast is Rae Zander’s Everyday Attraction’s Friday, July 17, 2015 show, “Getting Current With Who You Have Become” (https://www.unity.fm/episode/EverydayAttraction_071715).

Rae asked in her show, are you loving your life, even when the shit hits the fan? We’ve come here to sometimes muck things up. Life isn’t meant to be one long, easy ride. Can you imagine how boring life would be if everything was vanilla and smooth? Me personally, I like a hellishly fun roller coaster ride to let me know I’m alive.

Stop looking at your problems, as problems! Look at them as answers to your prayers. Money troubles, health issues, relationship woes, career snags, the big Ds (divorce, debt, death), are not here to kill you, they are here because you can sculpt a blob of clay into a beautiful piece of art. The blob of clay is your life waiting for you to create what you want with it. Once you stop looking at your problems as evidence of everything going wrong, switch it around and think of it as everything going right. Practice this with seemingly small “problems” and watch how everything shifts and moves in the “right” direction. Even if you have to remold your clay of areas in your life over and over again, remember there’s no right or wrong way to create your life’s masterpiece.

Now that these areas in your life have your attention, what are you going to do with it? Are you going to continue to manifest more contrast with negative thoughts about your “problems?” Or, are you going to change course and move in a different direction? Maybe a new word to use in place of “problem” is “opportunity.”

The reason more “bad” things happen is because we dwell in the negative emotions that come with dealing with so-called problems. The more angst and anxiety around a certain subject, the more you align to that emotional vibrational frequency. Look at problems as opportunities to do and feel something different.

The truth is, “what’s going on in your bank account today is yesterday’s news,” according to Rae from Everyday Attraction. She opines we’ve already manifested the low funds and crying over the present circumstance is a waste of energy. Sure, you could cry and tell the story to all your friends that you are broke, but guess what? All that’s doing is perpetuating the circumstance you’re trying to move away from. Shift your perception to what it is you DO have and want. That’s why gratitude journals are so useful. They remind us how we are already abundant.

Abundance is not just money. If you can breathe, you are blessed. If you can read this blog post and understand what its saying, you are blessed.  If you have no pain, you are blessed. And, if you have love in your heart and are loved, you are abundantly blessed. Stop telling stories of lack, and start celebrating and holding into gratitude what’s going right in your life.

I love the term “divine discontent.” I read a Facebook post recently from a co-worker asking if her friends knew of any companies that are hiring. I know from working with her that she’s in a highly stressful job and I can relate because three years ago, that was me, too. But, I also know that her discontent is divinely sent. The uncomfortableness of her stressful job has her searching for something better, more in alignment with where she truly wants to be. She may not have articulated it in that fashion, but that’s what it is. She’s calling out for something better because her discontent is showing her she’s unhappy. And, her taking the simple step of asking friends if there are other jobs out there is signaling to herself and the Universe that she’s ready to do something about her discontent.

The uninformed person would whine about their stressful job for years before they decide to change their thinking to open up to new possibilities. But, the enlightened person takes action when they feel the lower vibrational energies stirring inside them. They realize the present circumstance is a manifestation of yesterday’s thoughts. They know their present circumstance does not bound their future – unless they allow it to. Your power is ALWAYS IN THE NOW. Act like the Co-Creator you’ve come to earth to be and get out of the victimhood mentality.

Rae says when you start to shift your perception of what’s going on is when you finally come to a place of finding more balance in your life, no matter what is actually unfolding in the present moment.

Stop looking at problems like fifteen ton weights holding you down and look at them as possibilities to set you free!

Cutting the Cable Cord…

Image courtesy of Discarded Television by artur84, from http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/

Image courtesy of Discarded Television by artur84, from http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/

I’m a 1980s baby, grew up in the MTV, in the cable television era. My parents always had cable television. So, I, too had cable TV in my own home. There were brief moments in my early twenties when I couldn’t scrounge up enough cable bill money to pay on a regular basis. But, I always factored the high cost of cable in my monthly budget and rarely went without it.

Well, all that ends now. After receiving yet another $175 bill from Uverse for my cable and internet, I had enough. The high cost of cable was a drain on my monthly budget and on my life. I decided it was time to consider letting cable go.

I went to Facebook to ask for insight from folks who cut the cord long ago. Many wondered why I hadn’t done this a long time ago. Others sympathized and admitted they missed their cable from time to time. Overall, I got a sense many felt more liberated and certainly their pocketbooks were fatter from not spending so much on this expense.

As a writer, television is a killjoy and I already know this. But, there’s something so satisfying about going home from a stressful job and escaping into television world. Instead of reading books and writing, I was watching TV, and lots of it. The only way I could change was not making it so easy to watch my television shows.

I called Uverse to remove cable and was told if I did, I would be charged a $165 early termination fee, regardless if I kept my internet with them. I was pissed off at Uverse, but mostly myself. I could have cut cable off last month, but I had to lock myself into yet another contract. I had finally talked myself into disconnecting cable, only to be faced with another decision. Do I just keep basic cable until next June or pay the outrageous early termination fee?

I decided to drop to basic cable and when I’m ready to stomach paying the early termination fee, I would. Fortunately, the fee goes down $15 every month. My plans to go cold turkey on my cable addiction didn’t go quite as planned. The plus side to having basic cable is I still get to watch a beloved local morning show, Good Day Sacramento for a little while longer.

I feel foolish paying all that money for so many years. Now I know better. I fantasize about how my life would be richer without cable and I instantly feel lighter and happier.

I was shopping in Walmart and a Direct TV sales rep asked me who was my cable provider. I said, “It was Uverse.” He asked me what I was paying then asked who I was going to go with now. I told him I am eliminating cable and using only the internet to watch TV, when I had time. He shrank back to his table and raised his hands in surrender. I almost asked him who he had for cable, but kept pushing my cart to the checkout lines. I already knew the answer. He wasn’t a sucker for cable anymore, either!

As I write this, none of my favorite shows are on and I’ve been writing away at my computer. I’ve only been away from cable for almost a week, but I’m not missing it.

What I learned through this experience is I saw what looked like a problem – high cable bills – and turned it into a way to connect with others, to enhance my life by finding creative ways to get entertained, while also finding balance. I found there is more time for meditation and reflection. And, I got a lower cable bill after all.

I am more abundant now than when I was paying the highest cost of cheap entertainment. Sometimes it takes a ridiculously high cable bill to demonstrate what needs to be adjusted in one’s life, and for that I am grateful.

I Am In a Supportive Universe

Image courtesy of Universe by duron123, from http://www.freedigitalphotos.net

Image courtesy of Universe by duron123, from http://www.freedigitalphotos.net

I am in a supportive Universe and ALL my needs are absolutely met.

I am in a supportive Universe… is one of my most favorite, powerful affirmations I say on a daily basis.

When you say (and believe) you are in a supportive Universe, you are activating all that will support that claim.

The Universe supports you in helping you to be the fullest expression of who you are. When you shine your light, in only the way you can bring forth the Light, the Universe expands and grows. Others are moved by your expansion. It is your love of life that pushes the folds of time and space to the edges of eternity. Your natural, curious, loving self is connected to the Universal Flow. Your raised vibrational energy helps to heighten our Collective Consciousness. It is vital to us all for you to have all you need to reveal more of your authentic self.

It is important to know that not only do you benefit from the Universe’s support, the Universe depends on you to be who it is you were brought here to be. The Universe will surround you with people and things to support you and your vision. Universal support is always there, always shaping and molding matter into what it is you need and want, directed by your thoughts.

Miracles happen all the time, why not be a recipient of all that is available to you? In order to receive, you have to first believe you are worthy, then you have to allow what it is that is trying to get to you. To feel worthy is to void all feelings of inadequacy and undeserving emotions, and instead filling up with self-love.

We tend to forget we have already inherited God’s gifts of life, love, and liberty. We wrongly believe there’s separation between ourselves and God or ourselves and that which we want. It is this perceived separation that causes our suffering. Old church doctrines of God being vengeful is where it likely started. This perceived separation is further fed by guilt and shame we hold towards ourselves. We suffer when we forget God dwells in and around us, not in some heaven mothership. We suffer when we focus on lack, instead of abundance and sustenance. We suffer when we forget to align our thoughts with gratitude, appreciation and thanksgiving.

You will get to a point in your manifestational journey when you recognize every thought is answered, every desire birthed and fulfilled. You will understand that all thoughts are creative and influential and will be careful on what you decide to focus on.

Even through your discontent and contrast (of not having what you want), there is a support from the Universe to bring you closer to contentment. You will get to a place of trusting in the Universe and God to provide ALL you need in abundant supply. Abundant supply in health, love, family, friendship, happiness, peace, and joy.

I live in an unlimited Universe. Unlimited in love, in money, in forgiveness, in next steps, and unlimited in connections with others. I am never alone because the Presence of God is within everyone I meet.

How do you know you are in a supportive Universe?
