Desperation or Inspiration?

The root word of desperation is despair, which is defined as “to lose all hope.” The root word of inspiration is inspire, which also means, “in spirit.” Ask yourself today, where are your desires coming from?

I was listening to June 20th’s Rae Zander’s Everyday Attraction podcast and she played a snippet of Abraham by way of Esther Hicks, where Abraham asked the person in the hot seat whether they were motivated by desperation or inspiration. I realized that if I looked back on some of my “desires,” many of them may not have been coming from an “in spirit” or inspired place, but rather a place of desperation.

When I sat down four years ago to write my desires for my life, I was in a rough, desperate place. I was in a very stressful job, I was overwhelmed with a mortgage payment and single parenthood, and I was in anxiety mode all the time. Sure, I manifested some of my desires, but to this day, some still elude me.

When I asked for six figures to plop into my life, that came with a conflicting belief that I was not going to get it – no matter how much I thought I desired it. Not only was it not a comfortable desire for me to embrace, it was not coming from inspiration.

I had to look at why I wanted a six figure salary – was it to bring happiness? Security? Happiness and security comes in many forms and blessedly not just through having lots of money.

I was inspired and guided by my Inner Spirit to soul search what made me happy about my stressful job, and I was able to identify qualities that I enjoyed, like writing. In my stressful job, there was minimal writing in my everyday routine. From there, I found out that in the company I worked for, there was a job that encompassed my desire to write all day. I was led by Spirit to prepare and apply for that job. Now, I am very happy and successful in my current role for the same company where I was stressed out just four short years ago. See the difference between inspiration and desperation? Desperation had me going after any job (including similar ones to the stressful one I was trying to leave), whereas inspiration led me to where I truly wanted to be. Thankfully the jobs that I was searching for out of desperation never panned out.

We often ask for lofty desires because we think it will bring us happiness. Instead, we have to start from a happy place and sometimes it could be as basic as we’re happy to be alive and loved by family. From there, inspiration and creativity grows.

When your desires are aligned with your true values, creativity can flow easily to and from you. It is your creativity and inspired desires that bears the fruit of abundance. Your abundance comes as a result of following your true desires.

If our desire is not rooted in our unique values, what we want will have a hard time manifesting. We have to examine why we desire a particular thing and ensure that it is coming from your Spirit and not just ego.

Examples:

  • Is wanting lots of money another way of saying you want to feel secure and worry free? You can enjoy being worry free today – without having millions in the bank. A decision to feel abundant with what you do have, creating a realistic budget, finding time to seed and grow your dreams (baby to big step), all could help you feel secure. Gratitude for what you do have goes a long way.
  • Is finding a soul mate to marry another way of asking the Universe you’d like companionship? Then take it a step further, and find yourself being content with being your own best friend and cultivate your talents and interests. The loneliness begins to dissolve, making room for more companionship from others and eventually your mate.

Do not limit or underestimate the power of God and your creative God in you. All you have to do is know what your values are, stick to them, and pay attention to where a desire originates and whether it represents something else entirely that you probably already have access to.

When we are manifesting, we have to ask ourselves where are our desires really coming from. Is it out of desperation? If so, we need to look at the essence of that desire and find what it is we are truly looking for.

The truth is, when we clear space in our hearts and minds for love and happiness, creativity flows easily and then abundance follows. When we desire material things first, it is not coming from a sustainable place. But, your boundless creativity is and does sustain forever.

The source of our desires holds the key to our ability to manifest them. Be sure your desires are not coming from a lack-filled, desperate place and begin to focus on desires that are truly inspired by the essence of who you really are.

Thoughts are powerful – especially when boosted by focus and intention. Your spoken words, no matter if they are dominated by positive or negative thoughts, will send signals on what you intend to manifest.

You have to be vigilant in watching your focus and your words. What you primarily focus on, is what will take root and manifest. Refrain from uttering anything that you do not want to manifest or perpetuate.

As you send negative words out, the people you are speaking to are receiving and resonating their own feelings about your negative speech and vibration. So now, you’ve involved others into your negative creative process, which hastens the undesirable manifestations to come and cycle about you – until you are ready to shift your focus onto something more desirable.

Instead of sending negative words into the Universe, send positive ones. Catch yourself before you say something that lowers your or someone else’s vibrational energy. Positive words have the same ability to magnify and resonate your intentions, just as negative ones do, too.

If you must dwell on a negative emotion, thought, or word, do so quickly and understand that you will be wrapped up in that problem for as long as you wallow in it. Instead, shift your focus to your desires, to feeling what it would feel like to have a solution – even if you don’t know what the resolution will be.

There are thousands of thoughts and it is not easy to monitor every single one of them. However, spoken words can be monitored. How you choose to perceive and receive information  is also within your capability. Choose wisely.

Here’s a listing of the titles over the past month:

  • May 1st – Breaking Free of Self-Sabotaging Patterns – She discussed how we get in our own way in manifesting the life we want and how to direct the energy of desire in the right direction.
  • May 8th – Instead of Managing Your Stress Transcend It – Janice proposes that instead of just managing our stress, we can eliminate it.
  • May 15th – Why Simplicity Make It Easier for You to Live a Purposeful Life – Simplicity is not about how much or how little you have, but it is about how your values fit within your life.

Janice Campbell’s Receive Your Life Podcast airs live on Thursdays at 9 AM Pacific Time on http://www.unity.fm/program/ReceiveYourLife/. If you subscribe on iTunes, the Podcasts will automatically post each week. Here is Janice’s website http://www.receiveyourlife.com/.

Another recommendation is Lorane Gordon’s Your Happiness Way Podcast/show featured on http://www.blogtalkradio.com/yourhappinessway. I like her show’s format. Lorane has knowledgeable guests discussing Law of Attraction and Manifestation topics, as callers call in to ask her and her guest questions. She’s honest and gives real tips for people to try. One caller called in and was discussing how specific her vision board for the goal of remarrying and why love was elusive to her. Lorane explained to her that a vision board may not be the best tool for this caller and gave tips that could work better for her – I love that! Not all modalities and tools in spirituality works the same for everyone. Lorane also ends each show with a guided meditation, which is a nice bonus for those of us who need it.

To hear Lorane’s Podcast I referenced, check out iTunes and search for the show December 20, 2013, show titled, “Success With Law of Attraction.”

Spiritual Buoyancy in Turbulent Waters

What does it take to be spiritually buoyant when the waves of life are choppy and turbulent? An influx of gratitude and an output of forgiveness. A knowing that all is truly well and suspending judgment of all situations and people.

These elements: gratitude, forgiveness, knowing, and suspending judgment are critical to maintaining a buoyancy or bounce back when the waves of life dunk you under for just a bit.

When you are going through something that is less desirable, remember to infuse gratitude for whatever is showing itself to you. Then, forgive yourself and others surrounding that situation. Know that all is well and that you were divinely guided to this moment. Finally, suspending or refraining from judgment, prevents labeling a situation or person as “bad” before seeing the good or even just looking at it/them from a different perspective.

Blessings come in many different forms and shapes. Oftentimes the “difficult” experience reveals the diamond in the rough that it was, as you glance at it in the rearview of life, while you are moving full steam ahead. In hindsight, you should be able to look back at a person or situation with loving gratitude and appreciation. Anything and everything that got you to this point in time IS A BLESSING.

We get in our own way when we block the flow of life, by not being grateful, being unable to forgive, forgetting the power of God and our own creative ability, and judging everything and everyone.  Being buoyant in turbulent waters is what keeps you afloat enough to move into alignment with the flow of life, with ease and grace. Even seemingly outside situations can feel stormy, but in time, you will be naturally buoyant, while others flounder and even drown in the stormy sea.

God designed us to be spiritually buoyant, but sometimes we forget how to be. Here’s how to remember: Gratitude, forgiveness, knowing and suspended judgment.

Crop Top Sets!

My mother purchased this outfit in 1990, and never wore it. It reigns from the clothing company, Miss Selfridge, London England.

I inherited a cool outfit circa 1990 from my mother, with the tags still attached! I googled the clothier, Miss Selfridge and as it turns out, they have a wonderful website that sells – you guessed it – crop top sets! It’s no surprise the 1990s has influenced our style for the last couple of seasons (not to date myself, but my teen years were set in the 90s, so you can imagine I am having nostalgic moment after moment).

The crop top has a sweetheart neckline.

Ladies can rock this look with a pair of cute sandals and a light denim jacket. Check out Miss Selfridges’ cute separates for inspiration or to add to your wardrobe. Under the Apparel section, click on “Co-ords,” which will take you to their “Two Become One” section (a fitting title for coordinating outfits).

Miss Selfridge Crop Top, $53. Love the pop of yellow and the white, graphic flowers.

Miss Selfridge coordinating pencil skirt, $61.

Miss Selfridge crop top, $49.

Miss Selfridge, coordinating pants, $61.

Miss Selfridge Hawaiian Print T-Shirt, $61.

Miss Selfridge Hawaiian Printed Mini Skirt, $61.

No one, not the crotchety old man across the street could know, nor
His wife, or Mikala’s own father could ever know
How the serpent waged war in the apex of Mikala’s seventeen year old legs,
or how Alex liked to lean into a turn, almost laying down, but not quite,
the kickstand kissed the ground as the engine roared through the rising speed.

“Man, don’t let Mikala ride on the back of that thing!” The old man warned
Mikala’s father acquiesced, Mikala had her own mind, what could he say?

The sleeping serpent awoke, and slid out of its lair.

Three hours later
The serpent snaked through the unforgiving road, squealing and convulsing
The speed climbed to 90, 95, 100, 105.

Alex, did not know how one flawed move,
One slight turn,
Could cause the serpent to transform into a silver pinball, ricocheting between curb and median.

No one could ever know how the silver pinball exploded into a thousand pieces,
Metal crumbs strewn far and wide,
Or how a tree limb sheered Alex’s left leg as he flew straight up through the trees
His blood sizzled as it dripped from the tree branches onto the sizzling asphalt.

No one could ever know how Mikala knew to leap for her life, off the serpent,
body to concrete,
her skin ripped and peeled, like a burnt orange, raw and red

And,
no one will ever know the torture of terminus,
like Alex and Mikala.
